BBC-television adaptation of the Roman von Agatha Christie. A young recently married woman, Gwenda Reed, comes back to England after the life of the biggest part of her life in New Zealand. While her husband, Giles, except the country is, she buys a house for them and starts recalling recollections which make her beginning to think that maybe she had lived in the house before. It is only, while it dines with friends that a chance remark of a horrific memory released as a small girl, in a body of a woman and the murderer with “monkeys of paws” to hands looking down. Gwenda is resolved to find out the springs of this memory. The murderer, thought that he / she was sure after eighteen years and is ready to kill to cover the past. But Gwenda has help because one of her dish friends Raymond West is who has quite a special aunt who is ready to help Gwenda - Miss Jane Marple.

Während ihr Mann, Giles, außer dem Land ist, kauft sie ein Haus für sie und fängt an, Erinnerungen zurückzurufen, die ihren Anfang machen, um zu denken, dass vielleicht sie im Haus vorher gelebt hatte. Es ist nur dann, indem es mit Freunden speist, dass eine Zufallsbemerkung von einem furchterregenden Gedächtnis als ein kleines Mädchen auslöste, an einem Körper einer Frau und dem Mörder mit “Affen Tatzen” Händen herabsehend. Gwenda ist entschlossen, die Quellen dieses Gedächtnisses herauszufinden. Der Mörder, dachte, dass er/sie nach achtzehn Jahren sicher war und bereit ist zu töten, um die Vergangenheit zuzudecken. Aber Gwenda hat Hilfe, weil einer ihrer Speisenfreunde Raymond West ist, der eine ganz besondere Tante hat, die bereit ist, Gwenda - Fräulein Jane Marple zu helfen.
