During a routine flight, two veteran space shuttle pilots discover an alien artifact and bring it back to earth. It is the mid-1980s. An aggressive Soviet leadership orders troops marched to the border of West Berlin, and then decides to invade West Germany with multiple armored tank & troop divisions. In Lawrence, Kansas – on the border with Missouri – a family is preparing for the wedding of their eldest daughter, and Dr. Oakes (Jason Robards) is keeping busy in his role as chief of surgery in the small University Hospital at Lawrence. These people go on with their daily lives but are drawn closer to the possibility of a nuclear war, as the Russians use a nuclear ballistic missile against a West German city, and then attack a U.S. warship in the Persian Gulf. The Americans strike back by hitting a Soviet ship, and then the Russians hit NATO regional headquarters with a nuclear warhead! People start creating makeshift fallout shelters in their basements, but many are caught off guard when, 1 at a time, nuclear missiles are launched from their silos along the Kansas – Missouri border. USAF officers then announce that 300+ ICBMs are inbound to the U.S., and 2 of them strike Kansas City, Missouri! Many are killed outright, but still more must face the danger of radioactive fallout. Now, the characters we follow are living in a barren, devastated world – devoid of electricity, safe drinking water, and food – and filled with radioactivity, starvation, and disease…in the horrific aftermath of ‘The Day After’… |

Rasputin, who has died, uses minions to try and kill Anya, failing twice. During the course of all these events, Dimitri and Anya fall in love. |

The Cleveland Indians have gone 34 years without a division title. Team owner Donald Phelps has died, and his snobby wife Rachel Phelps, a former showgirl, has taken over as the new owner. Some in the media think Rachel shouldn’t be the owner of a baseball team. Rachel hates Cleveland, so she makes plans to move the Indians to the warmer climate of Miami, Florida, but she can’t break the team’s lease with Cleveland unless the team’s attendance for the season is below 800,000. Rachel’s plan is to put together a team so awful that the season attendance will be lower than 800,000. Rachel and general manager Charlie Donovan hire a manager for the Indians Lou Brown, who has been the manager of the minor league Toledo Mud Hens for the past 30 years. Charlie then recruits some misfit players catcher Jake Taylor, who is a major league standout with knee problems, Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn, who is a pitcher who throws wildly, third baseman Roger Dorn, who is a product endorser and former major league star who will do anything to avoid injury, outfielder Willie Mays Hayes, who runs fast enough to steal a lot of bases but can’t hit very well, and Pedro Cerrano, who is an outfielder who practices voodoo. As expected, the Indians get off to a slow start, but when they discover that Rachel wants the team to lose so she can move the team, the Indians get their act together and start winning games and raising their attendance, as Jake tries to win back his ex-girlfriend Lynn Wells, and the Indians do what they can to win the division title. |

Larry and Richard, best buddies, work for the company of Bernie Lomax and one fine summer day accidentally find out that someone in the company betrays it and steals money from it. Hoping for promotion the two guys immediately report about this to their boss. Little do they know that it’s the boss himself who steals from his own company. Pretending that he is proud of them Bernie invites Larry and Richard to spend the weekend at his splendid vacation house on the beach. Larry and Richard of course agree and while the two are looking forward to a weekend full of parties and girls, Bernie asks a mafia boss and a buddy of his to kill his two employers so that nobody gets to know what they found out. Instead it is Bernie who gets killed and when Larry and Richard finally arrive at their boss’s vacation house they find Bernie dead. Not knowing how to deal with the situation, the two friends have the effort to pretend that their boss is still alive, which brings them into comic situations. And then there’s still the killer who wants to shoot them, many party guests and of course the police. Hilarious and macabre comedy with great Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman as Larry and Richard as well as Terry Kiser as the corpse. |
