The time is the 24th century and the ship is the newly commissioned Enterprise-E. It’s captain, Jean-Luc Picard, has been ordered not to interfere in a combat between a Borg Cube and ships from the Federation. However, seeing the Federation is about to lose, Picard ignore his orders and take command of the defending fleet. With his knowledge of the weak spot of the Cube, they destroy it. However, a small part of it escapes and plot a course directly to Earth. The Enterprise chases it and enters a time distortion created by the Borg. They end up in the mid 21st century, their only chance of stopping the Borg from assimilating Earth being to help Zefram Cochrane make his famous first faster than light travel to the stars…

In 1841, young Ishmael signs up for service abroad the Pequod, a whaler sailing out of New Bedford. The ship is under the command of Captain Ahab, a strict disciplinarian who exhorts his men to find Moby Dick, the great white whale. Ahab lost his his leg to that creature and is desperate for revenge. As the crew soon learns, he will stop at nothing to gain satisfaction.

Halley’s Comet returns to the solar system and the English/American team aboard the shuttle “Churchill”, making a close-up survey of the comet, discovers an alien spacecraft in the head of the comet. Inside the spacecraft are some large bat-like creatures and in three cocoons are three “dead” humans – two men and a woman. The “Churchill” takes the humans and a creature back to Earth. There the bosses of the project are amazed to find the shuttle burnt out and all but one of the crew – Carlsen – dead. The humans from the spacecraft suddenly awake and all those who come into contact with them are drained of their “lifeforce” and in time all the victims – including most of the population of London – are turned into zombies all praying on the horrified survivors for their “lifeforce”. It’s up to Carlsen and Major Caine of the SAS to stop them before the whole world turns into a big blood-hunt…

King Henry II (‘Patrick Stewart (I)’ (qv)) keeps his wife, Eleanor (‘Glenn Close’ (qv)) locked away in the towers because of her frequent attempts to overthrow him. With Eleanor out of the way he can have his dalliances with his young mistress (‘Yuliya Vysotskaya’ (qv)). Needless to say the queen is not pleased, although she still has affection for the king. Working through her sons, she plots the king’s demise and the rise of her second and preferred son, Richard (‘Andrew Howard (I)’ (qv)), to the throne. The youngest son, John (‘Rafe Spall’ (qv)), an overweight buffoon and the only son holding his father’s affection is the king’s choice after the death of his first son, young Henry. But John is also overly eager for power and is willing to plot his father’s demise with middle brother, Geoffrey (‘John Light (I)’ (qv)) and the young king of France, Phillip (‘Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ (qv)). Geoffrey, of course sees his younger brother’s weakness and sees that route as his path to power. Obviously political and court intrigue ensues.

As the title would suggest, it follows the travels of the legendary sword Excalibur through Arthurian myth, from the violent, powerful hands of Uther Pendragon, to a long-years’ rest in the stone to being redrawn by Uther’s son Arthur, who uses it to defeat the evil invaders and establish the great court of Camelot and the great Knights of the Round Table. It is there in Arthur’s glory years and in his decline, brought on by the love affair between his wife Guenevere and best friend and best knight Sir Lancelot, the Holy Grail Quest which produces many casualties among the knights, and the arrival of Mordred, the son Arthur had by his evil half-sister, the sorceress Morgana. Through it all, the magician Merlin watches over everything, always ready to throw in a Charm of Making when it’s called for.

Now The X men magneto ignition must stop again and break off the war against the people, as well as the powers of Jean Gray Pheonix stop.
