John Murdoch awakes alone at a foreign hotel to think that he has lost his memory and is wanted for a row by crude and weird murders. While he tries together his past to the piece, he trips on a diabolical underworld which is controlled by a group of being, known as The stranger who owns the ability to bring people to sleep the town and his inhabitants and to change. Now Murdoch must find a way to stop them, before they take control of his opinion and destroy him.

Sam Lowry is a technocrat harassed in a futuristic society which is convoluted unnecessarily and badly organised.
