Ricardo Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) is urbane and clever dead. It is the history of three soft persons: Paul Rivers (Penn) to whom a suffering mathematician got married without love in emigré English (Gainsbourg), Christina Peck, a housewife of the upper suburbs and of the middle class, fortunately married and the mother of two small girls and of Jack Jordan (Del Toro), an ex-prisoner who noted in his Christian faith that force brings up a family. They will be united by a terrible accident which will change their lives. By the final frame, none of them will be the same as they will learn the hard truths of love, faith, courage, desire and guilt and how chance can change our worlds irremediably, forever.

Ils seront réunis par un accident terrible qui changera leurs vies. Just like hard it should be happy? In the fizzy new comedy of the author / manager Mike Leigh (”Vera Drake,” “secrets & lies”), stars of Sally Hawkins as a poppy, a greedily free-spirited schoolteacher who brings a contagious laughter and an unsinkable sense of the optimism to every situation into which she bumps, to us touching, honest and deeply life-insuring investigation of one of the most mysterious and often mostly hardly detectable of all human qualities offering: Luck. Poppys ability to maintain her perspective is checked because the history begins and her commuter’s wheel is stolen. However, she commits herself enthusiastically for driving lessons with Scott (Eddie Marsan) who turns out to be her Nemesis  a smoking, blocked cynic. Because the tension of her weekly apprenticeships, poppy meetings builds even more challenges on her positive frame of mind: A glowing flamenco teacher, her bitter pregnant sister, an uneasy homeless man and a young rowdy in her class let alone which she has also ejected her back. How does this not concern, do remain only Poppys world view but also the opinion of those around them the answer, “glass-half fully or half-empty on a question guilty?”.
