The freshman of secondary school Cassandra “Cassie ” (Mélisse Sagemiller) walks in a nightmare of detached signs of this world having survived a devastating car accident. Haunted by a menacing reaper of a different distant kind, its only hope is to hold on tightly to accidental meetings with her lost love Sean (Casey Affleck) and the assistant of a young mysterious priest called the father Jude (Luke Wilson). It is the mind of Sean, his soul mate, who guides her to like, but it are friend Matt (Wes Bentley), Annabel (Eliza Dushku) and the Raven of morose friend of Annabel (Angela Featherstone) who try to attract him to the dark side.

Hanté par une moissonneuse menaçante d’une différente sorte lointaine, son seul espoir est de se cramponner aux rencontres accidentelles avec son amour perdu Sean (Casey Affleck) et l’aide d’un jeune prêtre mystérieux appelé le Père Jude (Luke Wilson). C’est l’esprit de Sean, son âme soeur, qui la guide pour aimer, mais ce sont ses amis Matt (Wes Bentley), Annabel (Eliza Dushku) et le Corbeau d’ami morose d’Annabel (Angela Featherstone) qui essaient de l’attirer au côté sombre.
