John J. Macreedy does not know it, but when he bends the train in the city jerkwater of the Black Rock, he will find prompt the object of fear, hate, and up to a murder conspiracy! Altruistic Macreedy came to the Black Rock to spend a posthumous military award to a local man whose son had died gallantly in the Second World war. What Macreedy could not know when he began going of that train was that the city had a shameful secret, one that must be kept at all costs.
