In February of 1945, one of the most fierce battles of the Peaceful theatre of World War II occurs on the very small island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of marine Riflemen attack the fortress supported by thousand Japanese and the butchery is horrific on both sides. Early in battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi and a photograph of lifting becomes an American celebre reason. As a powerful inspiration to the War Americans and ill, the photo becomes a symbol of Allied reason. Three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley and Irish Republican Army the Hagues, is beaten behind in civilisation to help to collect funds for the war effort. But braces for heroism stacked up on three men are in disagreement with their own personal achievements that thousands of lies of real hero died on Iwo Jima and that their own contributions in struggle are symbolic only and méritantes not of the choice which they know. Each of three must take honours, working and grief that they face simply to be in a photograph.
